Sounds to me like everything is working fine. Stick your hand in front of the return. Do that after backwashing as well. Keep doing and pretty soon you'll be able to tell when you need backwashing without even looking at the gauge.
Just cleaned the sand filter and wow the water from the waste port was a dark brown.
I cleaned the filter when it had reached 15 psi and the water coming from the return has slowed down drastically,because i want to backwash as little as possible because water here is crazy expensive.
Backwashed till the water in the side glass turned clear and then rinsed for 30 sec,now filter pressure is back at 10psi.
So can i just backwash when it reaches 5psi above the clean pressure our should i do it wen it reaches 25%???
