low pressure - pentair cartridge filter - torn filter?

Cartridge filter is running at 5PSI - high water flow. Good water level skimmers clear. Ran for hours and not changing. Possible torn filter?

Pentair 420 unit cartridges in first month of use. Recently cleaned with muriatic acid.

A word of caution, when you clean those filters with acid, if not correctly done you do risk damaging/ weakening the filter. Take the cartridge out and look at it and see what it looks like. You could also have a bad pressure gauge also.

I cleaned and inspected the gauge. When pool was opened (first season) water was completely brown - 4 days of 2x a day filter cleanings water cleared - filters got brown stained - lead to idea to clean with acid.

Will remove and inspect all filters.

Inspected all 4 cartridge filters and found no cracks or tears. Sprayed off, re-installed - still running at 5 PSI. Pool water is crystal clear, water chemistry tests good.

Could another internal filter component failure cause this? All parts appear to be structurally sound. It is a pentair clean and clear 420, hooked up to a pentair self priming 1 hp pump serving two skimmers with individual returnes and two drains suction only. Water is flowing strong.

Well if all looks good and the water tests and looks good, I wouldn't worry. The filter canister is just a container with not much else inside to go wrong. Unless you are bypassing water past the filter, maybe it's just a fluke of sorts. Keep an eye on it and see what happens.
