Replacement Cells - Generic Ok? (I have a Zodiac LM3)

I am pretty sure my salt cell has been out for over a year now. At first I didn't want to put out the $500 it costs for a replacement, but now I am tired of fighting the mustard algae. Has anyone purchased a generic salt cell replacement? I see then substantially less. My main concern is quality obviously.

Thanks!

if you look many $500 cells are warranted for 1 or maybe 2 years. the same sort of cell but priced at $1100
or more have 5 or 7 year warranty. I was able to find a replacement board for a visibly fried one, because it
was not secured to the HEAT SINK...15 year old SWG and it works again. cost was $75...plus shipping.

(just my guess, today everything is built in China, when it does not work toss it out and get another out of the pallet box.)

oh yes until then use the BBB method and get some bleach into that pool....
