Opinions on Blue Square Q-360 In-floor cleaner?

This thread isn't yet old enough to qualify as a zombie, so...

I keep seeing the word "plastic" in reference to the moving (and/or most visible) parts of these systems. Almost always in a pejorative manner.
Given the extreme expense of these systems: why not a brass or bronze option, especially on high-wear items, such as gears?
I can see the need to stick to plastics for moving cleaners - they do need to be buoyant.

But a system which sits in one place and simply (maybe) pop-up?

Has any thought been given this?

As you can see from my response I am not having any performance issues:

I have this system in my pool now for about 3 months with no problems. This is the third pool I have had built and the first with the in-floor Q-360 system. My personal preference in not to see any cleaning unit in my pool as I had in the past as they were a pain, would get hung up on the steps and other places in my other pools.
One point is that the pool builder needs to submit your pool plans to the in floor people and the floor system manufacturer will tell them where to put the heads and what type of head to install. I have a huge mosaic on the floor of the pool and the last thing I want to see is a cleaner. Check out my build.
Just my .02 cents

I am having issues with the entire 360 system. Because of this experience, I will never have an inground pool again. Anyway, the part with the little propeller thing that I assume changes zones, isn't working. I have replaced the cassette, nothing. I just got a new propeller thing, and it's still doing the same thing. Spins for a few minutes then stops. Am I missing something ? HELP!!!!!

G'day.

I have a BlueSquare 360+ system distrbuted by Waterco in Australia. The system has always had issues with the heads, which simply stopped working. The system is just over 2 years old, and within this time I have already replaced 5 heads that have failed to my knowledge. I recently took out all the heads, I have a total of 18, and 13 of them no longer rotate. This seems to be a very common issue with these heads.

The heads are also expensive to purchase, so when you have to replace them regulary, the cost really does add up.

The only thing that I can think of on my end which may be causing the heads to stop working which i would say is spring damage, is that I have been running a 2HP on the infloor system. I am going to replace my heads, and change to a 1HP pump.

Am interested to see the results of others.

Update: BlueSquare have responded to my email and are being extremely helpful.

Shaun
