salt water chlorine generator needs a boost

Since the pool stays clean running the pump 4 hours a day, running the SWG only 4 hours a day does not generate enough chlorine Its cheeper to add some chlorine with the tablets than to run the pump for 8 hours. So its better to use the floater for the tablets.
Unfortunately you are trying mix a couple methods for sanitizing the pool. That is going to make life challenging for you. As some others are saying, if you set your CYA for a SWG pool but then manually dose or use tabs then you will have problems.

In order for your SWG to maintain (not taking into account a heavy bather load) you will probably need to run your pump 5 hours at 100% setting.

During your 4 hour run, what percentage have you been at?

Its running at 100% , what will be the problems. One tablet a week seems to be maintaining FC.and CYA. as I understand, a targer of 75 CYA is just to help chlorine stay in pool because of using a SWG any other method , 50 CYA is good and I have been able to maintain both. If im missing something. Please spell it out. My pool right now looks just as. Good if not better than the pools in my neighborhood that are being maintained professionally.

I have been told that though CYA is important to keeping chlorine in the pool, the higher CYA gets, the less effective FC is at sterilizing the pool. This is a fine balance between CYA and FC. At least for the rainy season, II feel I have found that balance that works for my pool.

I am willing to run 5 hours a day when the time comes. Im trying to reduce power consumption douring the summer months. Thanks for all your advice and I appreciate any other advice. I am keeping a close eye on testing 3 and 4 times a week because I do not want to have a problem. Again. For now it seems to be working.. il keep posting...

Still maintaining 3.5 fc in my pool. . I have had to add CH, salt and baking soda more due to heavy rain. . Have been targeting 3.5 fc due to the partial use of SWG 4 hours at 100% and supplement with Poolbrand triclore. Which is holding cya at 50 and is holding ph at 7.4, knowing that everyone doesnt agree with my methods. Based on what im doing , does 3.5 seem like a reasonable target? That is should I stick with the 4.5 % of CYA for SWG or should I target a little higher. Thus the 3.5 ppm of fc. Which still appears to be working perfectly.

Also how does the poolbrand triclore from samsclub actually lower PH? Sappears to be working exactly as advertised.. my pool requires less maintenance now than it did before and still looks flawless.

For a CYA of 50pp, a non SWG pool would be a FC minimum of 4ppm and the SWG pool would be around 2.5ppm.

If 3.5ppm is working for you great, I would be a little more comfortable a little higher so it did not drop too much due to environmental changes or high use.

All trichlor is acidic, thus it lowers the pH, not sure why you want to know "how" it does it.

Sounds like you have found a nice balance. Just keep an eye on the CYA rising if the rain slows down reducing water replacement.

The triclore tablets I was previously using. Aqua chem. Didnt appear to have the same effect on ph.. Just wondering if there was a difference between brands. Or would the heavy rain lower ph also.? Thanks.
If they were both pure trichlor then they would behave the same - however it is possible that one if them has added ingredients that change the acidity.
