I keep hearing that SWG will cause Ph to drift up over time. How fast is "over time"? I know it depends on borates (assume 0) and TA (currently 113), I also know it varies with every pool but are we talking .5ph a week or more or less...
That depends on several factors. In extreme cases PH can drift out of range in hours, other times days, when things are adjusted correctly weeks to months. High TA tends to cause the PH to drift more quickly. Lots of aeration also causes the PH to drift more quickly. You can stop, or at least greatly reduce, PH drift if you follow our recommended TA levels.
