Pump losing prime when putting vacuum hose to skimmer.

Is that the skimmer weir you're pointing at? Or something else?

Where in relation to the autofill are those small holes? The autofill hole is usually very small.

Yes , It's in open position rite now, by the way, what is the purpose of this ?

Autofill is along the width and small holes are along the depth, so they are distant apart

The weir does a couple of things. It floats just under the water level which increases the surface flow and improves skimming action. It also floats upright when the pump is off to prevent the debris from floating back into the pool. It needs to work freely and not stick at any time.

Not to say I told you so, but back on the first page I told you to check the weir. Of course, if you had, and that fixed the problem we probably wouldn't have learned nearly as much about the quik skim as we have. So all in all it's turned out well.

I remember very well, but at that time, I didn't know what weir means , Now i understand very well,

So why it was closed before and I had to manually Open it ? Is that normal ?

Sounds like it was stuck. It should float freely.
Sorry I didn't expain it better. Most people call it a door or flapper.
