You're fine. NC and NO oppose each other- one's on, the other's off. So low is off when high is on.

What about using automatic valve actuators? Are they necessary if I want to be hands off with the pump running the sweep? Doesn't the valve need to be turned all the way to the returns when on the pump is on low speed, then turned to the sweep on high speed? (I have a 45k gal pool with a polaris 360 sweep). I've been looking online at Jandy JVA 2444 valve actuators.

Thank you!

Gerry,
You could do that, certainly, though I went with a much simpler approach- a ball valve on the return line, which I then adjusted at the high setting to get the necessary 30 turns a minute from the 360. At low speed, the 360 acts as a "rolling return", slowly creeping around the pool. I was initially concerned about return currents, but the pool is fine.( the flow from my two wall returns is reduced, but still present.). A friend of mine bought 12v sprinkler valves to actuate his setup. It's your choice.
