Lana537's post about a GFI breaker getting damp prompted me to hope someone here on the forum can help.
The 220v underground wire to my well pump has a poorly made splice. Replacing the wire without that splice is not an option.....it has to be redone. Even though it's buried about two feet, when the ground gets wet enough, it trips the GFI breaker.
I am almost positive I have seen a locating device that will detect that fault in the wire. (I know where it is plus or minus 5 feet but the soil is incredibly difficult and I want to dig one hole directly to the splice). I can't find an electrician locally that has that locator. Does anyone know what type of trade might have that item as a standard piece of equipment and would come out and locate the splice for me?
