Total Hardness

My water hardness is off the charts high. We had a leak last year, had it patched and slowly put some water in from our well.

Winter is over. Trying to adjust and add as needed. But how to I get the hardness level down? Should I try and use water softener salt?

Any help is appreciated...

Welcome to TFP!

There are only two ways to lower hardness: Replace the water with lower hardness water like rainwater, or have the pool water filtered with a reverse osmosis system. Only limited areas have RO filtration available for pools.

A water softener performs an ionic exchange to replace the calcium with sodium, so it won't work in a pool unless you pump all the water out and pump it through a softener, which wouldn't be an easy process.
