I finally got a new pump installed. Now I'm at odds with what to do for the cleanup of the pool. There is alot of mud/algae that I have been scooping up. I started to drain the pool and then I stopped because of course only clear water is coming out, and no algae. I just don't want to have to deal with months time of shocking the pool. Should I continue to drain or just do the regular Grand SLAM method?

Vinyl was just replaced last summer.

Can you post some pictures of the swamp. Confirm that your pool is 18K gallons?

It may be easier to drain the pool, scoop everything out, clean it and start with new water.

In either case, you need to get all the mud, algae, gunk out of the pool.

Doesn't look sooo bad, you can at least see a few of the steps.

My statement stands. Either way, you will need to scoop all the stuff at the bottom of the pool out. Your choice if is easier with it drained or full vs. your time and cost of water. Do you know your cost of water?
