I know the usual fitting used for a plastic step is an SP1023 but there is a hole size of 3” and was an sp1408. I am replacing the inlet and need to know how I can get a proper seal so that no water leaks with a 3” hole on the plastic step using an sp1408 to match the other jet. I notice the sp1408 can be used for fiberglass or plastic but not sure how I can get that sucker to seal correctly. Should I use permatex form a seal or perhaps a custom gasket on the plastic side and just use aquarium based silicone on backside? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
