salt test recommendation

I'm installing a Hayward SWG when I open my pool later this week. I think need to order a new tf-100 because I left the one I used last year out in the shed and I don't know if leaving it in the freezing weather over the winter will make it inaccurate.

I see there are 2 options for salt tests, strips and the drops. Are the strips accurate enough for do I need to spend the extra $ for the other. Also, how often should I test the salt levels?

Freezing definitely isn't good for the chemistry so you could just order a complete refill kit for it if you're in doubt.

I like the salt drop test best, because there have been a very few reports of the strips not matching the actual reading.
