Automatic cleaner

Hello all...I was wondering how long to run an automatic pool cleaner? I read a few different answers on other websites.
Also when I run my cleaner the pump gets pretty hot. Is this normal?

Welcome to TFP.

The most correct answer is, however long it takes to keep your pool clean. There is no single set time that yuo should run it.

The pump is working harder when the vacuum is running so yes, it would get hotter.

I wasn't sure because I hooked it up at about 2hours ago and it was still going but there is still dirt in the pool. I have alot of trees around the pool so it can get real dirty real quick. It moves slow which I know that is a good thing and sometimes it sticks up against a wall for awhile. I didn't want to kill the motor..better safe then sorry!

Acura we run our pool cleaner 3 hrs a day. If that is not enough then I manually turn it on for a few more hours. We also have a lot of trees around our pool.
