Hi everyone! First time pool owner here. We purchased a new home a year ago and this was our first year having a pool. It is a 16x36 inground. It has the original liner which will be getting replaced next spring, but I was hoping to get a little assistance with the plumbing part of it. Where each line goes, ins, outs, and process for blowing out the lines to close the pool before the often harsh Illinois winter.
It has a sand filter with a multiport valve and a heater hooked up to it, but we are going to remove the heater in the spring. It is old and not used because we are on propane. It is a 1 skimmer system with 4 wall jets. The skimmer has 1 run plugged as shown in the photos.

This time of year your #1 priority will probably be doing all you can to ensure a proper closing to protect the pool, equipment, and hopefully prevent a major algae outbreak in the spring. Start by reviewing the links below. They are fantastic resources. Your equipment pad is quite simple, so be sure to know how to prepare that equipment for winter. The inline chlorinator holds tabs which should only be used for short-term use since tabs are acidic and also "stabilized" chlorine which increases the CYA level quickly. Next spring be ready to use liquid chlorine as your primary sanitizer. Be sure to have a "Gizmo" available to protect that skimmer from freezing expansion damage. But the links below should help get you going. As always, test your own water with either a TF-100 (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C test kit. Those are two kits you can rely on.
