Even though it froze here last night... it's time. I'm opening my pool next week.

This weekend I have to pour a cement pad, pick up my new AquaCal heat pump, and running the electric to the pool. Last summer was our first summer with the pool, and an extension cord help bridge that gap to the pump filter last year! Lastly - I get my new TF100 kit on Friday.

The pool store sold me pristine blue with the pool - and I still have some of their initial package left. I know I kind of need to wait until I get my kit on Friday and test the water to know for sure where to start, but what should I have on hand? Just Bleach?

Oh yeah, and is all of this stuff in the picture just junk now?

Not the pristine blue that's for sure. Once you have the pool running to mix the water for a while, take your first TF-100 test sample and let us know what you get. You can expect to need liquid chlorine, so get a few gallons of that. Perhaps some muriatic acid to control the pH. You may also need some stabilizer if the CYA dropped, but we'll see.

Alright my pool is open - heater next week!

It's been circulating for a day or so, and I have half of the floor vacuumed. Water looks pretty clear!

I have the TF100 Kit and a pH meter (that seems incredibly finicky)!

After opening and getting my pump / filter going. Over the past few days, I added 2 gallons of 10% bleach to the pool, so it's been circulating for a day or so.

My first test results:
FC - 1.0
TA - 280
CYA - 0
pH - 9.3
CH 375
TEMP: 65º

I'm planning on picking up some Muratic Acid, and I still have a few gallons of 10% bleach. I've never bought stabilizer, but it looks like I'll be needing some of that as well - I'm hoping walmart has something in their pool section!

Am I missing anything?

Thanks agian,
Jacob
