I have a 1975 Hallmark pool. At least I have been told that is what it is called. It has a concrete bottom, and fiberglass walls. The walls also have joints in them, where it looks as though they layed the bottom, then brought the sides in as premade pieces and then put them together. It also has a safety ledge all the way around.

The fiberglass is rough and collecting algae
Should We paint the pool or plaster ,what do you recommend?
Currently I use skimmer basket vacuum ,brush sides daily. (Looking for a pool cleaning service once a week)
Pool service injects chlorine gas once a week, should I change chemical to chlorine shock powder etc.
Am looking for weekly pool cleaner service.

Welcome! Generally we use regular liquid chlorine (aka regular bleach) to maintain the proper FC level as noted on the FC/CYA Levels. Your pool however may one of the rare ones lately that may have fiberglass fabricated with calcium within. That said, always refer to the TFP Recommended Levels - Trouble Free Pool page for specific levels.

Rough surfaces typically indicate calcium scale. Can you post a full set of water results? We recommend testing with a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C. See Test Kits Compared. Keep in mind local pool services generally just do a quick "dump & run" of chemicals that aren't always best-suited for the entire season. Take a few minutes to review our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and we'll be happy to show you how to maintain your own water easily and for a fraction of the cost.
