I've never owned a pool before, and we just finished construction on ours in April -- details are in my signature. It was technically an owner build, but my friend owns a pool company and managed the whole process for me as a consultant, so kind of like having a contractor, but a little more input and ability to work with the subs on my end.
Started out with a pool guy, but started having some issues right away. I have the TF-100 now, and am about to start managing it all on my own
