Just made a DIY aerator to try to boost my pH but not impact my TA (I can post details if folks are interested - cost about $5).
I’m close to the end of a SLAM (OCLT seems good, CC is less than 0.5ppm and water is getting much clearer - pool was like pea soup). I let the CL levels drift down slightly so that I could get a better read on pH and TA. TA was 80ppm (using K2006 and agrees with pool store number from a couple of weeks ago) and pH was 7.1 so I wanted to boost the pH closer to 7.4. I made a Venturi based aerator and let the thing run for about 2.5-3hrs. In that time it worked a little bit too well and took the pH close to 7.6 and the TA is now 90ppm. Is this TA shift with pH to be expected?
Dave.
