I'm a first time home and pool owner as of about a month ago. Thanks to TFP I've learned the art of pool chemistry, but now I'm looking for some assistance with a small leak.

Here is a picture of where you can see a little water dripping out: https://i.imgur.com/Pc1uew8.jpg

It's not too bad, maybe about 1 drip every 2 or 3 seconds. This weekend's project for me was to learn how to open up and hose down / clean out the filter — if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have even noticed it. If I feel around the joint in the PVC pipe I can feel where (I think) the water is escaping from. I'm just not sure what adhesive I should be using for this project. I've done some Googling but it seems like a lot of the adhesives used go where you connect the joints and not around the joints themselves after this pieces have been put together.

if it helps at all, here is a picture of the entire setup:

Thank you

You could just live with it or you can replace the return jet and coupling. Unscrew the union and then unscrew the large nut at the return jet. Replace that section. You'll need to drain the pool to the return height (or you might be able to stuff a towell in the hole until you can get the replacement jet in). Sealing leaks on the return (pressure) side by applying sealers or caulk externally rarely works.

Let's see if anyone else has any ideas.

I'm all about fixing small problems before they turn into big ones. If this is something that won't get worse as the season goes along I think I'll just deal with it, and fix it when I close up the pool for the fall.

I was hoping I could put some silicone sealant on it, wrap it up in Teflon tape and call it until we close.
