We bought a beautiful house with an in ground pool this winter. We are so excited to be opening it up!
Discovered your site a few days ago. After using chemicals from the local pool shop to start the opening process, I can already tell you are going to save me bundles of cash.
Just received my Taylor K-2006C kit. Here are my initial readings:

FC - 1.2 ppm
CC - 0.4 ppm
pH - 7.2
TA - 110 ppm
CH - 90 ppm
CYA - 55 ppm

Not too bad of a start. I need a slam cycle.

Welcome to the forum and great start getting a test kit!

You need chlorine. You may need to SLAM Process.

Your CYA is 60. The vial you are using is in logarithmic scale. So only test to the whole 10's.

So use the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA] and raise your FC to SLAM level. Test FC and dose with LC every few hours. When the pool is sparkly, run a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.

Take care.
