Looking to replace my pool equipment, as well as add a heat pump, and figured it may be best to source some more input and try to avoid missteps with equipment selection.
For background, my pool was originally built sometime in 2001, a Blue Haven pool build. Pool details shown in the signature. I moved into my current home in the summer of 2015 and have been doing all the pool maintenance. This site was used as my primary source of guidance in figuring out what I needed to do. Many thanks!
I do have a decently shaded pool area and it can be June before water temp hits 80 deg. Then, depending upon significant rain / hurricanes in late August / September, the water temperature can drop significantly, ending the swim season. Naturally, I'm looking to get a heater. A heat pump appears to be the logical choice. I've already made moves in this direction and I had wiring ran for it last week that can do up to 60A.
Looking for recommendations on equipment and possibly vendors if any know of good options in my area, North Houston, specifically The Woodlands, TX.
I plan to seek out quotes in a couple weeks.
Aims:
-upgrade to a variable speed pump
-cartridge filter (replacing the current one)
-add a heat pump
-not interested in SWG at this time, have my routine down
Questions:
-should I keep the pressure side plumbing, despite not needing it since I use a robot?
-should I add a flow meter? Perusing the docs you seem to need a good spacing, so it may be challenging.
Also, for added info, this home originally was 100 amp service until 3 or 4 years ago when insurance forced me to upgrade to 200 amp service. Wanted to mention this for anyone concerned with the electrical side.
