Our pool is only a few years old but the coping has been garbage ever since the end of the first summer. The pool company called it delamination. To us it was flaking and chipping concrete coping falling in our pool. Every year they patched it and the patches didn’t last more than a few months. We saw a quartz product at the Yellow Daisy Fest last year that promised it was stronger than concrete, cooler than concrete and would be hand carved and dyed to any shape or color. We picked flagstone and colors that matched our waterfall. They just finished Friday, but we think they did a great job. Time will tell if it’s as durable as they say, but we’re loving the new look! It’s an Atlanta based company called Stone Cre8tions, but I’ve seen the same product in other states with similar names. They patched the existing coping, then hand troweled a layer of the quartz over it, completely covering the ugly coping. They let it dry then came back the next day to lay down another layer and hand carve the designs. They let it dry then came back out a third day to dye each “stone” individually and seal all of it.
