New and overwhelmed

Mark,
Your high TA will drive your pH up along with the new plaster. When pH hits 8 drop it back to 7.2 with MA. This will also reduce your TA slightly. This will be a dance you manage for a while. At this point concentrate your measurements on pH & FC at least daily. Do you have a measurement of CH?

As for the SALT test it is not uncommon for the SWG and test kit to not match. Trust the test kit (but double check your testing) over the SWG. If the SWG is indicating it is generating and does not have a low salt indication you are fine.

CYA is the most ambiguous tests we have to do. Be sure to carefully measure and when testing do it with the tube at waist level with bright sun at your back. Add a little at a time and check for the black dot. Always round up as it is a logarithmic scale. Your 55 would be called 60.

3/30 results:
FC 9
CC 0
pH 7.5
CYA 55 (going to add stabilizer to increase to 80)
TA 160
Salt 3800

Also thinking I should decrease time on SWG to 3 hrs on low pump and try to get FC down around 6-7?
TA and salt need to come down more but will see if that happens over weekend.

Happy Good Friday and Easter!!

Like Pat said in post #39, you are in a good place to start monkeying around with SWG run times and % so go for it. Florida has a reputation for lots of rain so IMO it's not too bad to be a little on the high side for salt. Also as mentioned before, TA will come down over time with acid additions.

You too!
