Cover Pump Problem

Hi to all;

I have a Wayne cover pump that keeps going on and off about every 15 seconds even when out of the water. Took apart and cleaned to no avail. I did bang it
on the ground and that seem to stop the problem.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I did not think they were supposed to run out of the water??

Not familiar with that pump but i would suspect it has either a float switch or other water detection device. After you gave it a bang is it operating properly in and out of the water?

Found another thread on the site with a link to the manual which suggested some further cleaning techniques. Will give those a try, hopefully they will solve the problem.
