Pump for pool vaccum

I don't have valve to vacuum to waste. I need to vacuum dead algae. Instead of hiring someone to come do it for me, I was thinking about getting this pump to connect hoses to vacuum. Thoughts?

Before doing that I'd try to just use the vacuum hose as a siphon and just very slowly move it along the bottom of the pool where you need to vacuum.

It ought to work and might save you a few bucks, right?? Worth a try

Unless you're dealing with all of last winter's debris, you should be fine vacuuming to filter and then backwashing.

If you're determined to vacuum to waste, wouldn't it be cheaper to just cut into the pump>filter plumbing and install a three-way valve?
