You need to do a slam:

Use PoolMath (tab near top of page) to determine how much liquid chlorine to use. Don't use any more solid forms of chlorine or shock, your CYA is already on the high side. It most have been even higher before this mornings downpour.

Dont buy one special. It takes 10 ppm chlorine to oxide one ppm ammonia, so just keep adding until you keep Fc up

What's your cya testing now? Is the bleach fresh? You can check the date code on the bottle it will be something like 17120 meaning the 120th day of 2017

I forgot to respond to this, the bleach I've added so far has codes 17175 and 17181.

Alright, finally made some progress with FC! Added 7 x 121 oz jugs of 8.25% bleach, after 15 minutes I just tested:

FC 13.5
CC 9

Just noticed that my pool is like your pools big brother, even down to almost identical equipment!

Keep dosing until we can hold FC with a lower CC #, and then we will get a full set of results and start getting all your numbers in line. We just want to make sure all the ammonia is gone

Lets test and dose again tonight before you go to bed and then in he AM. I suspect we will see FC holding and CC dropping, I just want to confirm that.

Test it and see what it is and add enough to bring it back to the 12-15 area.

Ok, just tested.. FC dropped way down again.

According to PoolMath I need to add about 2.3 jugs, I'll go add 3 now before going to bed.

CC's are dropping that's a very good sign.
Here's a formula to determine the best price on chlorine:
Price/ounces/concentration.
$3.50 of 121 oz of 8.25%
3.5/121/.0825=.325 or 32.5 cents per effective ounce.
With your CYA level of 60 you can safely target a FC level of 24 ppm.

Walmart has 'Pool Essentials' 10% liquid chlorine for $3.64/128/.10 = 28 cents per effective ounce. Depending on price it might be a better value than the 121 oz 8.25% you've been getting.

Target 24 ppm and remember to change Pool Math to 10%. If you have the time do it every hour tonight. Keep filter running & no covers on the pool.

Basically until the CC's drop below 1 preferably less than .5. You also need to pass the OCLT (Overnight Chlorine Loss Test). The third item is clear water which I believe you already said you had.
