What have you found to be the best way to read the taylor test results (PH, BR. CL). I have tried the white paper, holding up to the sky, holding it in indirect lighting. Every method provides different results....
I need to get a speed stir. When I was ordering I thought...why do I need that? Now I am kicking myself as I try and swirl the tube without spilling everything...
I test in my kitchen with overhead can lighting. I like the white paper method for the comparator block. I hold the paper about 45 degrees facing up about 6 inches behind the block. As long as you do the test consistently the same each time then you should be able to trust your results.
For the pH you are really just looking to be within a certain range not a specific value. By paying attention to the trend you can then decide what you do based on the results. The pH doesn't normally jump around so don't chase it with chemicals.
As a side note, the BR test is meaningless since we don't use bromine.
