Green Pool

Please help.

I have had this pool for 10 years now. This is the first year there is an issue that can't be resolved with balancing the chems, running the SWG on super chlorinate, and shock.

The tests below are after running the SWG on super chlorinate overnight, tested with HTH 6-way strips.

FC- barely readable.... close to zero
CC or TC- Not on strip
PH- 8.4
TA- 100
TH- 200
CYA- 150

I added Sodium Bisulfate to bring PH down, and a gallon of 8.25% bleach.

Salt reads (on the Aqua Logic console) 32,000

The water was yellow green before running the SWG overnight. It now has a slight blue tint to the green.

Also, the water coming into the pool from the filter has a chalky color to it.

Charlie, by the looks of things you have algae. Not only that, but your CYA is off the charts at well over 100. The only way to resolve the CYA issue followed by eliminating algae is by a partial water exchange. Before you go any further, you need to do a diluted CYA test because your CYA may be even higher than you think. This is how we do it (Step 8):
Pool School - CYA

Now since you don't have a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C, you can't do that test. So your #1 priority really needs to be getting the right test kit. Test strips are not dependable at all. We can't even begin to help with chemistry advice by test strips. Sorry. But long story short, you need to exchange water lower a high CYA then follow the TFP "SLAM" page (link below) to remove algae. Both items require the right test kit.
