Showing CCs for the first time of the year

I put solar cover on Sunday. Water has been testing perfect everyday. This morning while testing, the water felt funny when I stuck my arm in to get the test water (wife says Im crazy). FC was 6 and CC was .5. That is a first for me this year. I checked CYA on Monday and was in the 70 range. SWG is not on yet. Is this solar cover messing with my water?? Water temp is 75.

With the cover on, the sunlight can't break down the CC. It's real common to see a little CC right after the cover comes off, but it will be gone in an hour or two. .5 CC counts as zero around here.

Your wife is right, sorry. :mrgreen:

A cover can inhibit the breakdown of CC a little. But most importantly, RELAX. A reading 0.5 is no worry...promise. It will go back to zero.

At least a few times a year I get the same thing just after pulling the cover off. I swear I can even smell a slight hint chlorine but that is probably in my head because I know what CC smells like from my public pool days.

My cover is still on. The wind is supposed to gust to 35 mph today, so it maybe off after while......HA

Yes! Me too! I start to freak out and ask everyone else if they can smell it. Then I break out the tests lol
