Hello,

I just bought a home(Dallas, Tx area) with a pool and it's been months since they did any work on it. I'm a heavy reddit user and saw a few post in the subreddit pools pointing to knowledge in this site. This site is GREAT wealth of knowledge!!

I've attached a few pictures of my pool. I've looked at the house information and there's no mention of how many gallons it holds. I'm guessing 20,000 gallons size pool though. By viewing the pictures can you estimate the gallons and what type of material it's made out of? I'm leaning towards plaster.

Which pool testing kit should I go with between the Taylor K-2006C and TFTestkits TF-100. I noticed the TF-100 has Chlorine OTO while the other one doesn't. The k-2006C just a lot more quantity of test though. Which should I go with?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to TFP! Congrats on the pool. You can see a good comparison of the test kits on the TFP Pool School - Test Kits Compared page. I always recommend the TF-100. Great value and service. I also highly recommend including the magnetic speedstir. Helps to mix much better while you do the drops. :stirpot: Great to have you with us.

Thanks, I ordered my TF-100 kit XL with the spinner mix thing. I should receive it sometime in the next few days. On Sunday the water turned green so I followed other threads advise to add bleach to it into the induction while the pumps are running and then wait an hour before adding more. 2 gallons of bleach bought at walmart removed the green algae but it was still murky. Yesterday throughout the day I added a total of 4 gallons in the afternoon which cleared it up more. Right before bed I added 2 more gallons and today in the morning the water was clear enough that I could finally see the floor again. From now on until I receive my kit I'll be adding 1 gallon of bleach until my kit arrives so I can get proper readings. I'll keep you all updated on the numbers I get after receiving the TF-100 kit.

The previous owner left a neglected Polaris pool cleaner behind. Right now I'm attempting to identify the model so that I can buy replacement parts like the bag and the rear tube thing that's worn out. I've searched for the model number in the unit without success. Can you all help identify it? It looks like a Polaris 180, 280 or 380. The pictures are below, thanks!
