Sand fliter split need suggestions for replacement

Woke up this morning with water streaming out of the side of my sand filter it is a doughboy 3.1 aquaview I was wondering if a silica filter verses what I have now. Thanks for your help !!

I'm not sure what you mean here. Silica is sand. And now you have a sand filter. Generally I would say if you are happy with the sand filter stay with that. I would probably get a larger one however. How long did this one last?
