Pressure much higher this year than last.

Last year my clean filter pressure was around 14psi and I would normally backwash when it hit 17 or so. I've started opening the pool (last weekend) and I've noticed the filter pressure is 20psi. I did notice that the off pressure wasn't 0psi so I'm thinking it might be an issue with the gauge. I can put a new one on it but the pool is only 3 years old, we purchased the house last year.

Any ideas?

If gauge doesn't return to 0 when pump is off, th gauge is bad. If it sits around 5 and goes up to 20, you can treat it as good and just subtract 5, but guag s are only about $10 so I'd replace it anyway

Get a new guage if it doesn't go to zero. Gauges are really an important part of managing your pool. TFTestkits sells a nice, glycerin filled gauge that is a pretty big step up in quality. about 11-12 dollars I think.

Just got back from the pool store, new gauge was $7.95. Didn't realize TFTTestkits sold one or I would have gotten that one. Oh well, upgrade for next year.
