We had a freeze last month where I live. I had kept the pool equipment running to minimize the amount of standing water that I had and hopefully minimize any damage that might occur. Since then, my pool has started leaking at the rate of about 1/4" of water per day. It leaks by about the same amount whether I'm running the pool equipment or not. So I don't think it's anything in the pool equipment causing the leak. There are no obvious leaks above ground. Any pointers for identifying where the leak is without digging up everything?

1/8"-1/4" evaporation is normal for a pool. Especially, when it is dry, windy and the humidity is low. People are sometimes surprised that water can evaporate as much in winter as it f does in summer. Here is an article on tracking down leaks, Pool School - Leak Detection
I had no idea there would be that much evaporation this time of year. I see that you are in DFW area. I'm in Midlothian. Are you getting that much evaporation?

I live in Bedford, just West of the DFW airport.
I use about 2" of water every 8 to 10 days... It does not seem to matter much the time of the year..
