I have recurring mustard algae and am about to SLAM my pool. Should I have my robot in the pool in order to sanitize any traces of algae that are on/in it? Or is there another method recommended to sanitize it?
Brush, brush is the best thing to do while SLAMing. Every day. The whole pool. You'll get some great muscles in the process. Advil for any aches.
When I first took over my pool and needed to SLAM, I did use my robot while doing so. As long as you're not overshooting your FC target by much, your robot will be fine. There is no replacement for manually brushing the pool though.
It's a varying value. When you start the SLAM, test about 4 times daily. Within a day or two, the FC consumption will slow down and you can begin to stretch your testing out. Twice daily is a good target number
