I also had an issue with a low salt reading and service code 144. My Taylor salt test kit gave me a reading of 3400 but my Aquapure 1400 was reading 1.7. I took out the sensor and it looked fine, no scaling (see the attached photo), but I cleaned it with a green 3M abrasive pad. Once I reinserted the sensor and started things up again it gave an accurate reading.
