120v light junction box redirect

Hi all! I am doing a major landscaping project around the pool removing a huge deck and terracing the yard around the pool (pool is in ground, but without the deck, it is about 1 ft exposed on the shallow end and 3 ft exposed on the deep end). See photo

My question is this:
In an attempt to avoid emptying the pool to change the lights, and in doing so creating a problem with a short bonding wire, I am thinking to split the lights into two junction boxes and the join them together after the j boxes. Can this be done? The idea is that the shallow end light will be buried in the first Terrance and the deep end light conduit will be buried in the third terrace. Then I’ll run a line from the deep end to the shallow end box inside the basement crawlspace to get power for the deep end light. The bonding wire for the deep end will end in the first junction box, unless it needs to be joined to the shallow end junction box for some reason.

See photos for rough sketches. Anyone see problems with these plans or have a better alternative?

In the final photo I show an alternative which includes have the jbox raised up in the patio and grassy areas. Less desirable but can perhaps put a light post or planter or something there to integrate it.

Thanks for taking the time to read that long explanation!

You can seperate the junction boxes wherever and run a power conduit between them.

The bond wires in the junction box need to connect to the bonding grid. They do not need to connect together.

I do not understand why you are doing this.

NEC 358.24 says the total number of bends in a tubing run between pull points shall not exceed 360 degrees. That means a maximum of four 90-degree bends can be used. The shorter the run and the fewer bends between the pool light niche and the junction box, the easier light wire pulls will be.

Thank you so much for the info! Sounds like as long as I keep the junction box or boxes 4ft from the waters edge and 8” above the water level it doesn’t matter if I split them or how I get power to the junction box. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but the yard needs to be graded and the level of earth around the pool where the current conduits are will be lowered. Im going to enclose the edges of the pool with either stone or stucco/cement to clean up the look. The point of rerouting is to maintain code for the lighting while getting it out of the area that will be a lower terrace.

So appreciate you taking the time to respond. I’ll post a photo of the finished project.
