I am new here and wondering what could be causing such a drastic drop overnight if ur cc is less than 1? I thought the cc level was the byproduct of the fc working to sanitize ur pool thus fighting something...if that's the case then it seems ur cc would be higher if u are losing 6ppm a night?
 
CC is burned off by sunlight and FC. So, CC is not always present when testing, especially during a SLAM. Your understanding of CC is correct just sometimes it has burned off before your test for it.
