I have had my fiberglass pool for three years (its about 15 years old purchased the house a few years ago. I was opening up over the past week and finally got everything balanced and ready. The water finally cleared a few days ago and I noticed a bunch of sand on one side. I posted in another thread on how to clean it up (thinking it washed in). And well I got my answer as to where it came from.... I was trying to suck it up about an hour ago (using a skimmer sock). And the skimmer ended up jamming into something. To my horror I noticed the shell was cracked about two feet in length. The picture is almost impossible to see, but here is my view.

My wife and I are crushed. The pool is what tipped us into to buying the house. I got a feeling the only thing we can do is buy an entire new pool (which we can't afford). I am wondering how this even happened?
