I was just wondering what is the maximum chlorine level that is still safe to swim? The recommended is 3-7 right? There's just such a big difference there I wasn't sure what is the "best". Thanks!
The normal day to day chlorine level and the maximum safe to swim level both depend on your CYA level. Take a look at the Chlorine/CYA Chart to see recommended day to day levels based on your CYA level.
Selecting a maximum safe to swim level is a little bit of a judgment call. Personally, I feel fine swimming up to the shock level for your CYA level. Some people swim at even higher FC levels than that without any problems, and many indoor pools go way above those levels at times.
