Here is my 24ft pool looking from one end to the other, center is closer to right of the skimmer. Yours will be larger at 26 so this should give you an idea of size.

I've got a cheap New Bright boat for my pool (26' AG). It's puny enough that I let my son drive it around when he was 3. I was more worried about him capsizing it around the skimmer and return than doing any damage to the pool. I got it on clearance at Walmart a few years back, but it looks like they're still available online from Walmart. I've got the 18" boat that looks like it's selling for around $30.

The same company that makes the skimmer boat has two other remote control boats that are designed for pools. You can find them on Amazon and other places for $49 each.
