    Taylor PH test

First let me say with all the advice I've received from these forums I've learned how to take care of my pool and my pool water is clean and clear. So thank you all for that. Now my question. Every time I test my PH using my Taylor test kit, I get a weak first test and have to test a second...

    TA High, PH slightly low

Hi all, We opened our pool two days ago, much later than we usually open it and it was pretty swampy. We're making great progress and SLAMing is going well. When we opened, PH was 7.0 (possibly lower, test doesn't go below 7.0) and TA was 70. Been trying to get the PH up and it's now at 7.4...

    Borax question

My PH was just a little low and I wanted to address it before shocking/slam. PH was around 7.2-7.4 Poolmath suggested adding 12 oz of borax to reach target of 7.6 so that’s exactly what I added. It’s been a few hours and I tested ph now it’s reading way high 8+ I’m wondering if it takes awhile...

TA and pH yo-yo - Recommended way to handle

I apologize, as I'm sure this has been brought up but I have yet to find a good answer. My pool chemistry strategy has been as follows: Maintain free chlorine with 10% Sodium Hypochlorite, checking every few days. As Sodium Hypochlorite is basic, it will cause my pool's pH to drift upwards. I...

Am I on the right path? New pool owner - inherited a beast?

Hi all! Happy to be here and posting. I've been reading pool school and all resources for the past few weeks and am hoping I'm on the right path, though I believe the only answer at this point is to drain and replace. I am trying to avoid right now. We did accidentally drain and replace about...

Alkalinity in range, but PH rises above 8.2 daily

Hi, I have been testing daily for the past 2 weeks trying to get my PH in range. My alkalinity daily reads between 70-90 each day but PH is easily above 8.2 I add PH decrease to get it down in range, then the next day it is high again. Do I just need to drain and fill? or keep working at it...

    Help-Not sure what to do

Here are my readings. I am confused because on TA it says I need to add acid to reduce ph and TA but when I click on ph it says to add borax to raise. What should I do?
