    Help identifying a leak

Welcome to TFP!! You're doing a good job of identifying the leak. :) & thanx for the pics. If, as you say, the leak is lessened by running the pump - you have a suction side leak (skimmers or MDs) Do you get 'extra' air in the pump housing after a few minutes of running the pump? Have you...

pool tiles fell off and found a crack on the wall

Welcome to TFP!! It sounds like your deck 'heaved' and pushed in on the top of the wall, thereby cracking it. :x To me, this suggests a 'surface ground water' issue that would probably be corrected by installing a curtain drain in the afflicted area. As for repairing the damage already done...

    Filter not catching fine debris

I'm thinking a by-pass in the filter or multiport. If the debris comes back in the same area, it's because of the circulation of your pool (to test this, readjust the directionals and see if the debris settlement moves accordingly). But it also sounds like bypass - though you've done the...

    Thermal Regulator problems

Welcome to TFP!! It certainly looks like something's wrong. :( The color doesn't look right, so I suspect a chemistry issue. Can you post some test #s and tell us how you came by them?

    repair wet PVC?

The valve is shot if the male threaded part, that attaches to the lube fitting, is gone :( If the threads are still good and it's only leaking through the small hole with the 'little rubber plug', you can put a Teflon wrapped screw in the hole as a 'stop gap' fix' - while you wait for the...

    My pool leak

You are narrowing it down nicely :goodjob: Your filter backwash should have a 'viewglass'. Unscrew that to see if the water is flowing through the waste line, while the pool is running. If that is inconclusive, you can cut out a section of the pipe and see. ( You can always use an expandable...

Issue with PB response to repairs

Sorry you're having trouble with the PB! :( It sounds like the actuator that shuts off flow to the pool is , for some reason, staying partially open at times. You might want to check the valve (as opposed to the actuator) to make sure the gasket on the gate isn't torn or has a glob of glue...

    Can I connect a fountain?

Joanna, welcome to TFP!! From your description, it sounds like you have a 'Pool Genie' (if I got the name right, it's a special skimmer that has the return line plumbed into it). I've never seen one but doubt they would accommodate a fountain :( By any chance do you have a round return inlet...

    My pool leak

Thanks for the update :goodjob: You can certainly retest to confirm the initial findings. Sounds like a return side leak (i.e. anything after the pump discharge). With luck it's a bad multiport gasket, without luck, it may be a bad return line :grrrr: . Let us know how the second test goes...

Deck Jets have dropped down into concreby a couple of inches

Re: Deck Jets have dropped down into concreby a couple of in Dave, welcome to TFP!! It sounds like the deck heaved on that side of the pool and the pipes couldn't follow it :( Any chance of getting us a couple pix of the pool and the deck in the effected area? I'm not hopeful for the...

    Sta-Rite SR400LP pool heater problems

Re: Sta-rite Heater stopped working I'm starting to think that the thermal regulator might be bad. Do you hear 'strange' sounds when the heater tries to run? The problem is that I can't see the blower motor running hot, if this is the case  My real hope is that someone else will...

    My pool leak

Main drains are the suction in the deepest part of the pool, there are usually 2 of them in the floor. There is always the chance that the multiport is bad and dumping water to 'waste' while the system is running. Tonight, try the 'kill the system' while doing the bucket test. (this will...

    Sta-Rite SR400LP pool heater problems

Re: Sta-rite Heater stopped working Hey Gary, welcome to TFP!! Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you at this point :( There is something wrong with the blower firing up 'full' for a couple of minutes and then backing off. Does it always fire up full, then drop off? Does the heater...

    My pool leak

There are 2 steps you can now do to help narrow down the source of the leak. The easier is to turn the system off for ~12 hours and redo the bucket test. This will show if the system looses more water when 'pressurized' and may or may not be helpful. The other thing you can do is plug all the...

Argh! Vinyl liner water down to 3-4 inches! MOSTLY FIXED :)

Re: Arrgh! Vinyl liner water is down to 3-4 inches! Sorry you are having this problem! Try the bucket test again - this time use rocks to weigh down the bucket, mark the level in the bucket and in the pool and compare the next day. There is always a chance that the light conduit has broken...

    Vinyl liner hole

Re: Vynil liner hole Miriam, it's GREAT that you have a piece of the liner to use (the patch won't show as badly)! Please read the link I gave above, it'll tell you that Boxer 100 adhesive is ~ the best glue to use and give tips on applying the patch :)

Color Logic Light won't change color

No there shouldn't be any moisture in the light fixture. Let it dry , replace the sealing gasket and turn the lights on for a minute and then off for exactly! 12 seconds. This should re-sync them. :)

    Vinyl liner hole

Re: Vynil liner hole How old is the liner? The optimal thing to do is patch the inside and the outside of the hole. This may be easier for you to do once the water is lowered for closing. Check out hole-in-vinyl-liner-how-to-repair-it-t6656.html for some tips on liner patching. If you need...

only 7-8 weeks on pool light gasket - can I reuse?

While I hold Scott in great esteem, I humbly disagree on this one :) You can try the old gasket and then submerge the light for a minute and see if any water enters it. I've replaced bulbs in units that were over 7 years old and not had a problem with the gasket 8-)

    Floating Liner....Thanks Irene!

Craig, I gotta go with #2 (though #3 is a funny option  ) #1 just can't happen - the weight of the pool water would keep any lost water from being able to float the liner. You've got ground water issues, as evidenced by the PB leaving you a 'well point'. Perhaps a curtain drain would...

    Filter leak

Welcome to TFP!! Leveling the filter was a GREAT idea!! :goodjob: Can you post a close-up of the bulkheads? It may be as simple as an o- ring stretched too much from the filter being out of level :) -- or... it could be cracks in the filter body itself  The filter looks 'older' do you...
