BulbWizards PoolBright 202 LED Color Changing Replacement Bulb Review :: Recommended

I hadn't been on TFP for a while, but have come back recently to research pool re-plastering (acid washed yesterday and refilling right now) and was looking back at some of my old posts. Came across this thread I started in 2016 and am happy to report that the PoolBright bulb is still going...

BulbWizards PoolBright 202 LED Color Changing Replacement Bulb Review :: Recommended

I thought it would be worthwhile to post a follow up review. I haven't seen any chatter regarding this bulb, which surprises me since we TFP-ers pride ourselves on finding the bargain pool supplies. I am now past the three year mark and it still works perfectly; even after the fixture flooded...

    DIY Solar Cover Tow Harness

I was looking for a solution that would allow me to easily put on a solar cover without the help of another person. There was hardly anything available and what I could find was outrageously expensive, so I came up with this DIY solution: PVC pipe slightly longer than the width of the cover...

Do you leave your solar cover/blanket off when air or pool water hits a certain temp?

Once the water gets too warm I will leave it off at night to let it cool down and put it back on in the morning to keep the sun off my precious FC. As an aside, I built a tow harness out of PVC so it is easy to put it back on with only one person. Now I can take it off in 15 seconds and put it...

In the Swim solar cover warranty experience

I figured I would follow up on this. It is crazy that they claim 7 year warranty since I never make it much past a year. My covers always fail in the same way; the top of the bubbles exposed to the California sun become brittle and crack. This allows water to get into the little depression and...

What Type of Light Bulb Is Needed?

A year ago I swapped out my 300watt incandescent Edison bulb for a BulbWizards PoolBright 202 LED Color Changing Replacement Bulb (see my review here). At the time it was about half the price of the competitor's bulb, so I figured it was worth a try. I haven't seen anyone else here with this...

Looking for LED light replacement suggestions and help

I opted for the BulbWizards PoolBright 202 LED Color Changing Replacement Bulb (see my review here). At the time it was about half the price of the competitor's bulb, so I figured it was worth a try. I haven't seen anyone else here with this bulb, but I love mine.

In the Swim solar cover warranty experience

That is funny because the side that disintegrated was the side exposed to the sun, and not the side exposed to chlorine (with 70ppm CYA). The seam was fine, and it was the back side of the bubbles that were falling off. I don't think the warranty said anything about chlorine level or being seam...

In the Swim solar cover warranty experience

My 12 Mil solar cover from In the Swim (aka Save On Pool Supplies) which has a 7 year warranty (2 Years Full) completely failed after only 12 months. The side exposed to the sun deteriorated to the point where thousands of little blue dots were everywhere. Needless to say I was not happy with...

Deck-O-Joint failing on patio and coping-tile joint

Finished up the project. Here are some pics of the expansion joint fix. First used a chisel to finish breaking off the top layer which was about 50% destroyed by the Sun: Then used a multimax tool to remove the sides, and then cleaned well with a wire brush: Used bond-breaker tape on the...

Deck-O-Joint failing on patio and coping-tile joint

As I said a few posts ago I used MasterSeal NP-1 for the pool coping/tile joint. I got Vulkem 45 SSL for the expansion joints but haven't started that part of the project yet.

Deck-O-Joint failing on patio and coping-tile joint

I did the first chunk of the coping/tile gap yesterday. Picture is of one of the wider gaps. I am pretty happy with the way it came out. It took a lot longer to prep than I thought (backer rod and masking) although I think it will go faster now that I have the hang if it. I eventually gave up in...

    Saltwater Solar Blanket Deterioration

I've never seen anyone else say this, but I don't want my cover to last that long. After a couple seasons it looks ratty anyway, just from being outdoors and covered with dust, pollen, bird poop, etc. I get the cheap, thin cover and am glad when I get to replace it after two years. When I see...

    Hayward swimclear cartridge filter C4025

Bummer to hear this. I put in a new set of Pleatco cartridges this season. I did a ton of searching on the forum and it seemed like the consensus was that they are fine. - - - Updated - - - Like these threads:

Deck-O-Joint failing on patio and coping-tile joint

So after a bunch more research I ordered MasterSeal NP-1 for the pool coping/tile joint and Vulkem 45 SSL for the concrete expansion joints. I also ordered backer rod and Scotch 2060 masking tape for hard-to-stick surfaces. I will post updates one I start the project.

    Solar cover straps

I used these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-Solar-Reel-Strap-Kit-Attachment-Fasteners-Cover-Plates-Set-of-8-/400506737374? They seem to be holding up ok other that the fact that the adhesive velcro they come with was junk and fell off almost immediately. I stuck them back on with Elmer's...

So I salted my chlorine pool. A review.

That is exactly what I did 4 years ago. Added 2000ppm for feel and a month later installed the SWG and bumped it up to 3000. In hindsight I should have just gone straight to SWG since I fought to get CYA down and ended up spending $$ to add it back in.

Deck-O-Joint failing on patio and coping-tile joint

For the vertical coping application I have seen people mention: MasterSeal NP 1 (Formerly Sonolastic NP 1) Sikaflex 1a Vulkem 911 Vulkem 116 Deck-O-Seal One Step Any inputs on these as to best for this application, easiest to use, longest lasting, cheapest, etc? Any others?

Deck-O-Joint failing on patio and coping-tile joint

Hey all, My Deck-o-**** on my patio and a similar product between the concrete coping and waterline tile is failing (see pics) and I need some advice on how to repair it. Patio flat sections: I have seen here where Sikaflex sl (self leveling) is recommended. Obviously this is only for more or...

    Tips and Tricks

Re: A couple of tips I thought everybody knew. Anybody got some I use a little fish net like you would use for goldfish. It is pretty fine and even gets tanning oil scum floating in the skimmer.

    Dudadiesel.com Boric acid buying experience

Jblizzle, I mixed the powder in a bucket first.., no issue. Much better than floating it on the surface, and didn't turn into cement like some powders do. Btw, what is Snoop Dog's favorite weather? Drizzle.

    Ants in the pool ??

Yup. Got the exact same thing right now. I figure it's just a hatch that won't last long. If I remember my entomology, winged ants are the potential future queens that get kicked out of the colony and have to go out to try to start their own colony. Although dramatic, swarming ants pose no harm...

BulbWizards PoolBright 202 LED Color Changing Replacement Bulb Review :: Recommended

When I was looking into replacing my 300 Watt incandescent bulb with a color changing LED on, I didn't see anyone report on the PoolBright 202 from BulbWizards. It was significantly cheaper than other similar bulbs, so I gave it a look. Here is what I found: Made in USA 3 Year limited...

Is it ok to leave the solar cover on for days at a time

I think Leebo's comment may be misleading. The cover doesn't put any extra strain on the pump and the water is still circulating under the cover just fine. The skimmer takes in debris floating on the surface of the water, so with the cover on the skimmer has a "hard time working well" in the...
