Few days of below freezing temp. What to do?

I’ve had this problem in past years even when draining. There’s still water upstream of the drained backflow device and this is what was splitting my valves. Solution. Found inlet line underground and tied in a ball valve there with a union I can drain. Now I drain it below ground where the...

Few days of below freezing temp. What to do?

At these temps it would take a long time for algae to grow lol. Just got around to starting my equipment back up after the great freeze of 2021. After we lost power I pulled all drain plugs and covered everything up best I could. 3 days no power with lows near 12 degrees. Everything came out...

Does water leaking in always equal water leaking out?

I was almost to the point of just living with the minor leaks until I either sold the place or until I refinished again in 20 years. This time without the ecofinish. Honestly I suspect there’s quite a few pools out there with this ecofinish problem but the leaks are so minor it’s just not...

Does water leaking in always equal water leaking out?

Definitely. Looks like you already saw my thread. I highly doubt silicone is going to be a lasting repair. As to ground water are you sure? Is the spa attached to a pool? If so are you sure the water source isn’t the pool leaking? My pool contractor were adamant that it was groundwater that was...

So for anyone that has had ecofinish installed. I'm about 4 months in and I'm still getting flakes of the product in my robot after cleaning. Should I be concerned?

    EcoFinish Pool wall questions

What a nightmare. Recently had my gunite pool redone with ecofinish, so reading things like this obviously doesn't promote optimism for long term reliability of the product. You've obviously been extremely patient with this installer/sub but at this point I'd definitely be seeking legal...

Looks like I'm a bit late to the reply but going on 2 more years I got out of it. Surely replacing it next time anything major goes though.

Re-Grout Water Line Tile to Fix Leak?

Can you elaborate here pooldv? I would have assumed the same as Dan. I would think that the tile is just attached to the concrete shell which is the container for the water no?

Hayward H400IDL2 Heater AO Code - bad blower

And that kids is why Styrofoam is bad for both the environment and your pool heater. I was ready to burn the entire setup to the ground but figured I would mess with it a bit more. I try blowing through the tube and no air is flowing through it. Sure enough I'm looking at the nipple coming off...

Hayward H400IDL2 Heater AO Code - bad blower

You're not kidding. And of course it's now not working again. Went to turn it on this evening and the blower kicks on but it doesn't seem to be activating the blower vacuum switch. I pulled off the tube and sucked a bit and it seemed to fix this issue. From what I understand this means the...

Hayward H400IDL2 Heater AO Code - bad blower

Just to follow up on this. I didn't need to replace the control board but did need IDXL2BWR1931 due to the new vacuum switch and plates that connect the blower to the flue. I'm now in this about $1000 in new parts. Should probably have just replaced it but easier shelling out the smaller...

Hayward H400IDL2 Heater AO Code - bad blower

I'm also wondering if I really need the new control board that comes with IDXL2BWR1931. I recently replaced mine and I only see one option for a control board (ie not a listing for those with the original blower vs those with the new Fasco motor.)

    My Little LEAK...

Just a question as I'm no expert but shouldn't the leak source be completely independent of the grout issues around the tile? Grout is just for filling in the cracks around the tile not for sealing the pool.

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

I have considered a VSP. But I'm not sure if that would even conquer my issues. I would have to use it in high speed most of the time anyways to properly utilize my mist cooler and to also allow the spa spillover to work.

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

So Mas...Any other thoughts? I was trying to think of a solution where my single valve actuator could somehow control 3 different positions. Such as one position to close off flow to the spa (flow to pool only, would allow the mister to work better), one to close of flow to the pool (spa mode)...

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

I've thought that may be the solution but I'm concerned I would just always be running it on high anyways (at least in the summer when I use the mist coolers which can last nearly 6 months in Houston). There's a few different scenarios for myself where the requirements for flow would be...

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

They actually ran the second pump for the waterfall feature. The misters do have to overcome a good bit of head pressure as they rise out of the water about 1 foot before the water comes out in a mist. I actually have to block off two returns to get adequate flow out of the misters.

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

All valves are fully open to both skimmer and the main drain. The noise is consistent. Air bubbles at the returns is minimal. What I was commenting towards at the start of this thread was a much higher rate of bubbles in the return flow. That has since diminished since the pump has been running...

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

Nevermind....I misread your post. It's when the pump is running. Maybe sounds like air...maybe like water flowing quickly through the valve.

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

I commonly hear what sounds like air in the filter. I've been concerned with my gasket because one time (yes I seem to like to make the mistake first and then learn) I moved the valve when the pump was on. Any other way to verify this may be faulty?

Air Bubbles Coming from Return After Sand Filter Bleed

Water line is below the filter. Right on. Even leaving the bleed valve opened with the pump running though didn't seem to rid the system of air. Just gradually went away as I let the pump run.

    Glacier Pool Chillers are Awesome!

Oh yes. I do agree. Initial investment is high but when one lives in Houston I think it would pay us back quickly. The pool is regularly 94+ degrees for about 4-5 months out of the season. When it's that hot it's almost not fun to jump in. I've installed a fountain and that keeps temps around...
