Good to know. I was just contemplating purchasing some of their retrofit Turboclean popups to replace my old toe stubber MasterPool popups.

    Pentair intelliflo problems

So sorry you had such terrible luck. Boy, you are right in being careful about installing something like that yourself or having someone inexperienced install it for you. Let me tell you my saga about a pump wired wrong. Last year, I had a young guy who was just starting out with his new...

    Question For All Pool Owners...

Another aspect of not being able to see your pool regularly is "out of sight, out of mind". You may be more likely to neglect a pool you cannot see regularly. I also like to be able to see my pool because of the beauty and the security. I don't have little kids, but who knows when one might...

A Cheap Pool Cooler for the end of Summer

I don't personally know of anyone who has done it, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone has. I can always seem to keep my pool cool with the aerator.

A Cheap Pool Cooler for the end of Summer

That's great! I have a built in aerator in the wall of my pool that does the same thing - only one though. I run my pump at night with it on and it chills the water down to 82/83 from 92.

Anyone ever use an air filled dome?

I've never seen one in real life - only have seen that site. I wonder how noisy it is. I'd think you'd have to have the blower going all the time. I'm not sure that would be very pleasant to listen to day in and day out.

    Slime Bag

I just googled it. Interesting. I've heard of people attaching a knee high panty hose or a skimmer sock to their returns and having good luck with that, but of course it wouldn't filter as low as the slime bag claims. I wonder if it's the same material that the bags in the robot cleaners use...

    Is it worth it?

I think your nervousness about it is very normal. I've never built a pool. Always bought homes that had pools and I love having one. If I had to sign on that dotted line to plunk down $x dollars, I'd be just as nervous - even though, I know I don't mind the maintenance - you always worry, am I...

    Borate test strips

I don't care for AquaCheck brand strips for anything. Thanks for the info on the LaMotte strips. I think I'll order some from the internet, if I can find them. I haven't been able to find borate test strips anywhere locally.

Pool Electronics and its Susceptibility to Lightning Storms

The GFCI for my pool light has popped a few times during an electrical storm - the light wasn't even on. My brother had his wiring in his house take a lightening hit. He has 5 kids, so lot's of stereos, tv's, etc. Everything was damaged. He didn't even turn it into his insurance, because he...

    Pool Lighting

Definately and especially because it's L shaped. I have a 40' odd shaped pool with one light at the end. It's really not enough for even my pool at the opposite end.

    Tips and Tricks

They do have main drain collars you can buy so things don't get caught. It's plastic and sits around your main drain. Darn, I wish I could find a link. I saw them when I was researching getting a robot cleaner. Was thinking I might still need one, but so far my Blue Diamond never gets stuck...

    Paul from Apollo Pools

Wow! I've never heard of anyone doing that. Actually, I'd be little freaked if I was expecting something to be shipped and instead it was brought to my door like that. Did you already know Paul?

Blue Diamond vs Dolphin Dynamic. My review

Putting it on a timer wouldn't do you any good. You still have to turn it on at the power source.

    Fogging System?

Gosh, I hope you can be swimming soon, too! It's been hot, but so far not so humid - YET!
  24. B

    Fogging System?

Looks cool. It is using a separate water source, right? Not the pool water. Those little nozzles get calcified and clogged up, pretty easily. Perhaps the high pressure system prevents more of that. I've seen some of those get drippy rather than fogging properly. They are sure nice at...

    Solar-Blanket Repair ?

Well, "The Handyman's Secret Weapon", aka duct tape, does come in an array of nice decorative colors, these days. I don't know the real answer to your question, but boy, I've used that stuff for a myriad of repair jobs that held up through rain, so perhaps it would work for your cover.

Is National Pool Wholesalers a reputable company?

I can certainly understand your frustration. I had a similar issue with a recent order. They all make you think everything is coming straight from one of their many super efficient warehouses. When they probably mostly drop ship from the suppliers.

    500 gallon a day leak

You know, I read somewhere, maybe even here where some lady said the way she found her leak was to throw a few paper towels in the water. The leak suction pulled the paper towels toward it. So, if you aren't finding a super wet area in your yard - greener grass or something that might be a...

    Dolphin Advantage

There are some people who have posted they love the Dolphin. I almost bought one, but after I read about the Blue Diamond and the Aquabot, I knew I wanted one of those. Still, if you want to try the Dolphin, remember that Costco has generous returns. You could get one and try it out, if you...

    Solar Covers

Visions of a giant cocktail in my head. Hey John - Leslie's has a chiller on sale right now. It's cheaper in their store than online, though. $500 dollars cheaper in store price than online sale price. In case you're interested.
