    Jonny, I shouldn't poke the bear, but just curious. Why is it worth the effort to add algaecide, yet only "try" to keep FC levels up, which prevent algae in the first place?

    I am not an expert, but I THINK the issue could be that algaecide is not a sanitizer. It may keep algae away, but will have no effect on bacteria etc.
