Pool 6 months old - readings

My pH always seems to go to 7.8 and stay there. I add acid and it temporarily goes to 7.2/7.3 but moves back to 7.8. Not too worried about it hanging around 7.7/7.8. Anyone have similar situation and remedies?

Pool 6 months old - readings

I hired a neighbor's pool service for my pool while I was out of town for 3 weeks. When I tested the pool when I returned there were some readings which are outside the range recommended here (in parenthesis). Should I take any action to change these readings? pH (7.5-7.8) 7.5 TA (70-90+) 50...

Pool 6 months old - readings

I have a 6 month old shotcrete pool and have been doing all my own maintenance after the PB initial startup. Water has stayed clear and no problems to report. The water here in Scottsdale is pretty hard (250-300ppm). Latest test results: FC - 5 is target TA - 100-110 CH - 400 CYA - 35 pH -...

lower your total alkalinity - do I have an issue

I have some water features in my pool. If these are running for a few hours, will the pH rise up? Found some articles written by Lowry which reinforces many of the ideas here.

lower your total alkalinity - do I have an issue

My TA measures between 110 and 120. When the pool is being used much, the PH might sometimes raises 0.1 between daily testing. Do I need to do anything to attempt to lower TA? I'm tending to not do anything but am unsure. If I need to lower TA, what is the best way to add the acid to lower the...

CYA is high - Didn't want to highjack another's thread

Do you mean "bring it up to 200"? As I read it, the suggested range is 250-350. Will test the tap water but know that it is "hard" tap water.

CYA is high - Didn't want to highjack another's thread

Repeat from above: I live in a hard water area and am confused why my CH is low. Should I add calcium chloride now or be patient?

CYA is high - Didn't want to highjack another's thread

I have been using both kits (ColorQ and TF-100). The results are nearly the same so I feel comfortable with either one now.

CYA is high - Didn't want to highjack another's thread

I've drained my pool partially (to lower CYA) and the current numbers are looking better to my eye. FC 7.24 pH 7.6 TA 120 CH 140 CYA 46 I will likely do one more partial drain to get the CYA down lower but will wait a week. I live in a hard water area and am confused why my CH is low. Should I...

CYA is high - Didn't want to highjack another's thread

Just added water to pool 2 weeks ago and the PB did the initial startup. I am planning on using the TRFC system and here's where I stand: CYA is high but am getting still used to testing. I now have both the TF-100 kit and the ColorQ Pro-7 kit (I'm a gadget guy plus I wanted something...
