Pool clear but not crystal clear

Yea I've heard that too, I try not to backwash too often. I've tried the de in the filter before but every time I do it the pressure rises after an hour or so and I have no return pressure back into the pool. Almost like the filter is dirty again. I wasn't adding much, about 1 cup total, but...

Pool clear but not crystal clear

The sand in my filter was changed last year. I recently backwashed and my clean psi is 17 and the current psi is 18. I'm going to lower the pH and see what that does. Thanks for all the help and I'll update later

Overcoming resistance to convert to TFPC.

I agree with everyone else, once you learn and understand what you are doing, you spend less time and less money and your pool will never look better. I tell everyone I know to use this site

Thanks for the advice. The water looks good today, but just not crystal clear yet. I'm hoping it just needs more time. Do the rest of my tested levels look ok?

First I wanted to say my pool is looking awesome, sparkling and crystal clear. You all really know your stuff here, thank you so much. I have a 2 part question: What is the best time if the day to test and add chlorine to the pool? Is it normal to lose 2ppm over a day period? Yesterday I...

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Thanks, that makes sense. How concerned should I be about small changes in my pH? My recommended range is 7.5 a 7.8. I tested a few days ago and it was 7.6 and today it is 7.4. Should I try to adjust it?

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Pool is looking much better today, but I have a few questions. I added a cup of de last night and when I woke up the return jet had barely any pressure and the pressure was up to 25psi. So I back washed and all was well, pressure back to 18psi and pumping well. I added another cup or so of...

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Ok, so my clean psi was 18, and today it is up to 22 (I added 1 cup of DE which pushed it from 21 to 22) so might be time for a back wash once it goes up to 24 or so? Is the bleach ok to add right to the skimmer? If my FC range is 5-8, is it better to be at the high end of that or aim for the...

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Awesome thanks Question about back washing, should I only backwash when my pressure rises 10psi from it's starting point? I've read before that backwashing too much can cause filter to not work as well, is that true?

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Ok, the fc/cya chart says between 5-8..should i drain some water to get my cya lower? Or am I ok? Also i assume i should stick with plain bleach so i don't mess with my other levels? How often should i be testing everything? Thanks

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Ok thanks, I will get one of those right away. So are you thinking the cloudiness is caused by this high CYA, because it was getting a little cloudy last week, but when I tried to raise the pH it is when it went to super cloudy. What should my next steps be to get my pool back?

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

Ok so my stablizer is too high, so how do I lower that down, or do I just need more chlorine? They are test strips, but from what I am reading I think I need something better than that

    Please help with cloudy pool!!!!

I have never been very vigilant with watching my pool chemistry. Usually I just throw a bag of shock in once a week, put chlorine tabs in my floating frog and run the pool 12-16 hours a day. I have always had a crystal clear pool. But now I have an extremely cloudy pool. Here is my...
