SWG Owner - Never Used Tabs - Considering for Winter

Thanks everyone. I do recall using tabs right when we filled the pool as we didn’t have salt in it. What I noticed was the tabs never really reduced in size while floating in the floating thing. One reason I’m considering this is because I’m going away for 22days around the holidays. I’ll have...

SWG Owner - Never Used Tabs - Considering for Winter

I'm looking for absolute newb help on tablets. I do all my own pool work and have the full TFT kit and am religious about chemistry. As I have SWG, I'm manually adding CYA in the Spring and constantly adding acid. I built my own acid dispenser that runs off of pump vacuum. I'm in Texas, and...

Ideal Levels for 8 Days Away (with Borderline CSI issues)

PH is 7.95 (-0.150 CSI) this morning, let's hope this levels off, will let it go a few more days before bringing it back down before the trip.

Ideal Levels for 8 Days Away (with Borderline CSI issues)

I’m aware it slows down. Don’t think I’ve ever seen 8.0. Maybe 7.88. I’ll stop adding acid and see what happens each day. I’ll record a log just for grins and post it here. That’ll give me a good idea of what will happen if I take a week off. In fact, I’ll go boost my FC to 8 right now to...

Ideal Levels for 8 Days Away (with Borderline CSI issues)

Yeah I had actually signed a contract for an IntelliPh, but after hearing Jim's issue, I pumped the brakes on it. Ironically, the Pentair dealer I signed with also did Jim's pool and they told me they wouldn't do it on an IC60 anymore. I'm hoping a redesign occurs. A chore for another day, but...

Ideal Levels for 8 Days Away (with Borderline CSI issues)

Thanks, the low pH is my responsibility, mostly because I was getting tired of daily micro adjustments. Not realizing the impact cold water had on CSI, I stayed with old habits of doing 7.8 -> 7.4 acid dumps from the Summer which typically afforded me two days between acid. In the winter, it was...

Ideal Levels for 8 Days Away (with Borderline CSI issues)

I really couldn't find the right forum for this question, so felt I'd try here. I've got a new pool, filled in April 2020. Due to Covid, I haven't left and have been able to obsess over the pool daily. With the weather changing, things have stabilized, but I still have to manage pH (a lot...

    In pool bar stool repair

Did this work? One of mine just popped off. My PB will fix it, but I’d prefer not having to drain a foot of water. Strangely, considering how much use these get as stools and steps, I’ve been waiting for this to happen. Fortunately, given their weight they sort of stay in place on their own but...

New Salt Water Pool - pH Craziness

What I put in the post was as of yesterday morning accurate. TA and CH are very stable and haven’t moved within 10 ppm since weeks ago. pH is 8.15 in the morning, every day. I add 24oz to get me to 7.6-7.7 and it’s back to 8.15 the next day. It’s very reliable, my pH meter tests to 1/100th...

New Salt Water Pool - pH Craziness

I did test that. No difference between on and off. Similarly, no difference between bubblers barely bubbling and shut off. My spillover is barely a spillover. There’s no free fall, no splash, etc.

New Salt Water Pool - pH Craziness

Thanks, yeah it's easy to second guess the measurements, it's far from accurate. The ranges I provided were basically just capturing between 1-2 drops of accuracy. I'm doing the full suite of testing once per week, and then testing chlorine and pH daily. I've not had to make a chlorine...

New Salt Water Pool - pH Craziness

Thanks to both. I've been doing the 8.15->7.6 daily 24 ounce acid pour. It seems to be normal, but I do look forward to a future where it's a bit more stable.

New Salt Water Pool - pH Craziness

See my signature for build info and build thread, but I built a ~27000'ish gallon SWG pool/spa. It's a gunite/plaster-pebble build. I'm religiously using the TF100 kit, the Taylor kits and a fairly expensive ($80) pH meter that's been routinely calibrated and matches well with the Taylor pH...
